OUR PROMISE

Assessment Approach

As a psychologist who specializes in assessments, Lora Israelsen, Ph.D. hopes the families and individuals who visit her will gain clarity and hope from their time working with her. In her work, Dr. Israelsen aims to listen carefully to questions and concerns, and then use findings from a thorough psychological assessment to identify which cognitive, psychological, or developmental factors may be at play.

Sometimes this means she might give a certain diagnosis, if all criteria are met. If this is the case, she will explain why the diagnosis is a good fit and how it can help guide educational and therapeutic needs. Sometimes, she will not give a formal diagnosis. In that case, Dr. Israelsen will identify services that may still be helpful for the family, given the findings from the assessment, and do her best to guide the family on next steps.
